The Queen from Virginia: The Jackie Bong Wright Story received the Best Documentary Jury Prize at VC FILMFEST: The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, and was also featured at several prominent Asian American film festivals including the DC APA Film Festival and the Vietnamese International Film Festival. In celebration of the DVD release, an official launch party will be hosted by Vietnamese American Arts and Letters Association (VAALA) at its studio on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at 3-6 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
