  9th Annual Moon Festival Children’s Art Contest Celebrates Tradition, Creativity (Westminster, CA, August 1, 2011) The Vietnamese American Arts & Letters Association (VAALA), Nguoi Viet Daily News, and Westminster Mall will hold The 9th Annual Moon Festival Children’s Art Contest on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Nguoi Viet Community Room from 9:30am to 1:00pm. The Awards Ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Westminster Mall from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and will feature a variety of live children’s performances. Family-friendly activities will begin at 1:00pm. This year’s event is also co-sponsored by Macv’s Department Store. Participants will complete one original drawing or painting during the event and submit it for judging. Our panel of judges will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place and three Honorable Mentions for each age group. All children will receive a free Children’s Art Contest T-shirt and a gift bag for participation. VAALA Board President, Ann Phong, explains that the event helps “to encourage the children in our community to grow up well-rounded by promoting their creativity. VAALA has been organizing the Moon Festival Children’s Art Contest for almost a decade. In our culture, the Autumn Moon Festival is dedicated to children…Our younger generation's artistic talent is amazing!” At the Children’s Art Contest participants ages 5 to 15 years will create an original drawing or painting. A panel of judges will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cash prizes in addition to three Honorable Mentions for each age group. All registered participants will receive a free Children’s Art Contest T-shirt and gift bag courtesy of our community sponsors. Tranh dự thi của mỗi lứa tuổi sẽ được chấm riêng biệt và có giải thưởng riêng. Mỗi lứa tuổi sẽ có giải nhất, nhì, ba và ba (3) giải khuyến khích Ban tổ chức sẽ cung cấp tất cả giấy vẽ, màu nước, và đồ dùng thủ công.
