Knotting and weaving the stiff wire, I introduce a pattern of interlocking shapes and rigid lines. The spectator's focus alternates between these competing approaches until eventually the organic fragility fuses with the geometric stability. The organic essence of my work evokes the natural world- body's organs, bulbous pods, and blossoms. My wireworks and skinned-wireworks exist somewhere between or within both sculpture, drawing and painting. They contain and occupy space. Yet, when mounted on the wall or free-standing, their shadows mysteriously extend and reshape the visual experience in two dimensions. Hoang Vu's artist statement.
