Key to the kinship between painting and poetry is the interest in metaphors to convey abstract ideas and emotions—things that ordinary language cannot fully express. Marvelous Metaphors: Art as Visual Poetry was inspired by this figural instrument as it plays on words and images, while still allowing room for interpretation. No two people encountering the same poem or artwork will come away with the same reading. The 6 artists selected for this exhibition were very diverse: Trinh Mai, Christine Nguyen, Tammy Nguyen, Trinh Ponce, Dao Strom, and Van Tran.
