VAALA presents the Moon Festival Children’s Art Exhibit at the 2007 VIBE Expo
Oct. 11-13 at Cal State Fullerton
WESTMINSTER, Calif.—VAALA will showcase a children’s art exhibit of more than 250 paintings from the Moon Festival Children’s Art Contest 2007. The exhibit will take place from Oct. 11-13 during the 2007 VIBE Expo at Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Student Union. The VIBE Expo features Vietnamese culture, art, dance, music and fashion.
The Children’s Artwork will be displayed in the Gabrielino and Chapman Atrium. VAALA also will host a vendor booth from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. At least 70 other vendor booths, including community health organizations and local businesses, also will be present.
VIBE is a three-day celebration where arts, business, culture and education meet, said Tam Nguyen, VIBE president. The event is to strengthen ties and build stronger relationships between Cal State Fullerton and the Vietnamese community in Orange County.
The event highlights a 7 p.m. dinner gala and awards ceremony on Oct. 11, followed by an exposition held Oct. 12-13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. that features vendors, games and live entertainment. Gala performers include pianist Hoang Nguyen and vocalists Nhu Loan and Tu Quyen. The expo will hold food-eating contests by Pholicious and a fashion show featuring Calvyn Hyp’s ao dai collection, as directed by CSUF alumna Tracy Pham. The Vietnamese folk dance group, “Lac Hong,” will perform cultural and modern dance at 4 p.m. during the expo.
Themed “The Golden Destination,” the expo is timed with Cal State Fullerton’s 50th Golden Anniversary.
Expo admission is free and families are encouraged to attend. Registration is requested for the expo at www.vibexpo.com. Tickets for the gala, held from 7 to 10 p.m., are $60 each or $500 for a table of 10.
Free transportation also is available. A free shuttle to and from Little Saigon to Cal State Fullerton will be offered Saturday, Oct. 13 for the expo. The shuttle stop is located in the parking lot of Thanh Duong Little Saigon, a church at 10321 Bolsa Ave., between Ward and Brookhurst streets in Westminster.
